• The proliferation of new right-wing movements in Europe places the discipline of Social Work in a position of responsibility, making it necessary to create new mechanisms to cope with this trend in an integrated fashion with the community itself, actively involving the general public and considering the need to coordinate efforts among the various national backgrounds.
In the light of these problems, social work needs to assume its role as a profession of human rights, articulating a set of best practices that can lead to simultaneous action from different social, educational and political spheres of activity.
