Abstract
New unpublished documents provide information on altarpieces by two of the leading representatives of Flemish Gothic painting in Valencia in the mid-15th century: Joan Reixach and
Jacomart. The commissions for altarpieces by the painter Joan Reixach are dated between 1454
and 1469. These are two works for the town of Xàtiva, an altarpiece of the Transfiguration
and another for the hermitage of Puig. Possible works by Joan Reixach in the Teruel’s town of
Sarrión, which includes a contract for a part of an altarpiece are analysed. Reixach’s authorship
is also confirmed for the altarpiece of the Virgin of Albal, which was known from a photograph
taken before the Civil War, as another one in Catarroja. Finally, we give information on an
altarpiece that was painted in 1454 by Jacomart for the private chapel of the Esteller family in
the convent of La Merced in Valencia, a work that has not been preserved.

Keywords
Valencian Gothic painting, Gothic altarpieces, Joan Reixach, Jacomart

ER -
