Abstract

In the late 1960s the still well-known and disseminated statement that «personal is political» was popularized. However, do we know from current feminisms where such a reinterpretation of politics and, ultimately, of society as a whole came from? This article explores the emergence of radical feminism in the United States, the beginnings of the history of the branch of feminism that proposed this new conception of politics to which feminisms are indebted until now. A journey that will enable to carry out an assessment of its main contributions, starting from some debates that take place in relation to its origins and antecedents.
