Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the Geography exam of the Evaluation for University Access (EvAU) (June 2019 call) of the Valencian Community (Spain), taking into account: the exams models, the grades obtained from the students based on these models; and the preferences of the students when selecting the two options. Based on the review of 79 exams (Tribunal nº13, University of Valencia), the results show that the majority of the students opted for the first model (92.4%). However, it has been proven that the most chosen option does not imply a higher success rate: average grade (6.8 versus 8.1) and percentatge of approved students (89.0% versus 100.0%). To sum up, the results indicate that the most chosen exam model is due to the fact that the students consider it easier to pass, while the less selected exam, the students choose it because they feel more confident and prepared to get a higher qualification.
