Abstract

How is the working class historicized in an interior province of a dependent country? What academic “trends” emerged around the revolution and the working class, and in relation to which factors of the broader cultural and political spectrum? Based on these questions and ideas, I shall propose to address some aspects of the development of Argentine historiography on the origins of the Argentine working class, specifically in Córdoba. The choice of the labor movement as an area of research from different perspectives responds to different historiographical traditions and the moments in which the aforesaid research is carried out. This paper analyzes a period in which this subfield developed in Córdoba during the 1960s and 1970s. The objective is to reconstruct the practices of the historian’s trade and the specific debates of this subfield, paying special attention to the trajectory and academic production of the Córdoba historian Ofelia Pianetto.
