Bird collisions with wind turbines are a growing environmental challenge in Spain. This work presents a C-band FM-CW radar on a reconfigurable SDR-FPGA platform for the detection and characterization of birds in wind farms through analysis of the micro-Doppler signature generated by wingbeats.
