Journal policy
Journal preservation policy
Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies is published in two versions: in print, which is preserved and distributed internationally, and in digital format, which provides free access to all its full content.
This journal implements various processes to ensure the permanent accessibility of digital objects, including backups of its content (covering both data and metadata), monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate potential format or software migrations, and the use of persistent identifiers such as DOI and ORCID.
The files published on this website are available in easily reproducible formats (PDF, HTML).
This journal is part of the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a digital content preservation network that enables the digital preservation of journals in OJS. The PKP PN creates a decentralized archiving system distributed among collaborating libraries to establish permanent archives of the journal. This ensures that journals not included in other digital preservation services (such as CLOCKSS or Portico) can still be preserved for long-term access to their original content and restored if necessary.
Additionally, Miscelánea deposits its metadata in various national and international repositories to ensure long-term digital preservation, including Dialnet, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), and LATINDEX (Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal).
The preservation policy will be periodically reviewed.
Journal funding
The journal is funded by the Department of English and German Philology, as well as by the Vice-Rectorate for Scientific Policy of the University of Zaragoza, within its annual call for grants for the publication of scientific journals.
Interoperability Policy
The journal provides an OAI-PMH interface (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) that allows other portals and information services to access the metadata of the published content, and which is available at https://papiro.unizar.es/ojs/
Self-Archiving Policy
Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies allows authors to deposit and disseminate their articles in institutional or subject repositories, as well as on personal websites and academic profiles.
Authors may self-archive, without any embargo period, the final version published by the journal (Version of Record), including the publisher's PDF, from the moment of publication.
The deposited version must include the full bibliographical reference to the original publication in Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies and the article DOI or a link to the version published on the journal's website.
Self-archiving and reuse of articles are subject to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0) under which the journal's contents are published.
Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies also allows authors to deposit and disseminate the accepted version of their manuscript (Author Accepted Manuscript or postprint) once it has been formally accepted for publication, with no embargo period.
The accepted version is understood as the version that incorporates the revisions resulting from the peer-review process and has been accepted for publication, but has not yet undergone the journal’s final typesetting and design process.
This version may be deposited in institutional or subject repositories, personal or institutional websites, and academic networks. It must be clearly identified as the accepted version of the article and should indicate that the final version will be or has been published in Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies. Once the article has been published, the full bibliographic reference, DOI, and a link to the published version should be added.
The self-archived version must not reproduce the journal’s final layout, pagination, logos, or other elements of its editorial design.
Permission to self-archive the manuscript does not automatically extend to images or other third-party material included in it. Authors are responsible for ensuring that they hold the necessary rights to reproduce such material in the deposited version.
The journal does not permit the self-archiving of versions submitted prior to peer review (preprints) of manuscripts under consideration by Miscelánea before acceptance.
