Journal policy

Journal preservation policy

Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies is published in two versions: in print, which is preserved and distributed internationally, and in digital format, which provides free access to all its full content.

This journal implements various processes to ensure the permanent accessibility of digital objects, including backups of its content (covering both data and metadata), monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate potential format or software migrations, and the use of persistent identifiers such as DOI and ORCID.

The files published on this website are available in easily reproducible formats (PDF, HTML).

This journal is part of the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a digital content preservation network that enables the digital preservation of journals in OJS. The PKP PN creates a decentralized archiving system distributed among collaborating libraries to establish permanent archives of the journal. This ensures that journals not included in other digital preservation services (such as CLOCKSS or Portico) can still be preserved for long-term access to their original content and restored if necessary.

Additionally, Miscelánea deposits its metadata in various national and international repositories to ensure long-term digital preservation, including Dialnet, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), and LATINDEX (Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal).

The preservation policy will be periodically reviewed.

Journal funding

The journal is funded by the Department of English and German Philology, as well as by the Vice-Rectorate for Scientific Policy of the University of Zaragoza, within its annual call for grants for the publication of scientific journals.
