Rural-urban connectivity and sustainable development: village roads, market access, and agglomeration in emerging Turkish provinces, 2011-2021

La infraestructura de transporte fomenta la aglomeración, al reducir los costes comerciales y mejorar el acceso al mercado. Las redes de caminos rurales impulsan la cohesión intrarregional, al establecer la conectividad rural-urbana. En Turquía, la reforma administrativa de 2012 restringió efectivamente la provisión de caminos rurales a las provincias no metropolitanas. En este artículo, se estiman los efectos, de forma reducida, sobre el ingreso y el crecimiento de los caminos rurales bajo dicha política a través del canal de acceso al mercado. Para considerar los ajustes temporales y la endogeneidad, este estudio emplea un modelo de datos de panel dinámico estimado mediante un marco de método generalizado de momentos. Los resultados indican una relación positiva entre los caminos rurales, además del nivel y la tasa de crecimiento del ingreso bruto per cápita. Sin embargo, las ganancias marginales de ingreso se vuelven estadísticamente insignificantes en un umbral de urbanización de, aproximadamente, el 42 %.
