El estudio histórico de unas cubiertas, y en concreto el de las pertenecientes a los palacios nazaríes de la Alhambra de Granada, nos puede proporcionar una gran riqueza de conocimientos, muchos de ellos trascendentes a la propia realidad constructiva de estas estructuras. Las razones que llevan a intervenir en unas cubiertas pueden ser de muy diversa índole, analizar cada una de ellas y las motivaciones que las produjeron nos permitirá conocer en mayor profundidad la propia historia evolutiva del edificio o conjunto de ellos que las contienen.  Con esta premisa hemos abordado el artículo presente, con cuya exposición pretendemos hacer partícipe al lector de algunos de los procesos históricos sufridos en los edificios que conforman estos palacios, y la respuesta dada a éstos a través de la intervención en sus cubiertas.

Abstract

The historical study of roofs, and specifically those belonging to the Nasrid palaces of the Alhambra in Granada, can provide us with a wealth of knowledge, much of it transcendent to the actual constructive reality of these structures. The reasons that lead to intervention on roofs can be of a very diverse nature, and analysing each one of them and the motivations that produced them will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of the evolutionary history of the building or group of buildings that contain them.  It is with this premise that we have approached the present article, whose aim is to inform the reader of some of the historical processes undergone by the buildings that make up these palaces, and the response to these processes through intervention on their roofs.
