Taking Risks. A Reading of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray

Resumen

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar El retrato de Dorian Gray de Oscar Wilde desde un punto de vista posmodernista. Apoyándose en diversas perspectivas críticas, como el psicoanálisis, la deconstrucción y la crítica de respuesta al lector, trata de sugerir una lectura alternativa en la que el cuadro que da título a la novela no se considera una «obra de arte», sino más bien un texto en el que juegan e interactúan muchos significados conflictivos. Las relaciones entre los personajes principales, Dorian, Henry y Basil, se interpretan como iluminadoras a su vez de las que existen entre el texto, el autor y el lector / crítico literario. Bajo esta luz, El retrato de Dorian Gray emerge finalmente como una metáfora del propio acto de leer.
