The Battle of Maldon y St. Edmund. Una aproximación pragmática desde la teoría de la cortesía lingüística

Este trabajo analiza, desde el punto de vista de la pragmática literaria, y más concretamente desde la teoría de la cortesía lingüística, dos textos del inglés antiguo: el poema heroico La batalla de Maldon y la narración en prosa de Aelfric sobre la vida del rey Edmundo. El objetivo es doble: en primer lugar, demostrar que este tipo de análisis lingüístico es adecuado para el estudio de textos de otros periodos históricos, ya que el enfoque pragmático del texto abre una nueva dimensión interpretativa y valorativa. En segundo lugar, validar la aplicabilidad de la teoría de la cortesía como marco analítico en textos y contextos en los que no se ha aplicado habitualmente.
