William Golding's Rites of Passage. A Case of Transtextuality

De forma más o menos consciente, todos los autores reescriben la obra de sus predecesores, ya que es imposible escapar a la influencia de escritos anteriores. Ritos de paso de Golding usa y abusa de las convenciones de obras anteriores de forma muy abierta, haciendo alarde de su condición de artefacto literario posmoderno. Este artículo muestra cómo Rites of Passage hace uso de los cinco tipos de relaciones transtextuales que Genette define en Palimpsestes -intertextualidad, paratextualidad, metatextualidad, hipertextualidad y architextualidad- a través de los cuales esta novela pone de relieve su sabor posmodernista. Así, a la vez que señalamos la compleja transtextualidad de Ritos de paso, señalamos también su carácter historiográfico/metaficcional, ya que ambos rasgos están estrechamente relacionados.
