Territorial Inequalities in Employment Conditions in Chile: Applying the Better Jobs Index at the Subnational Scale

This article estimates, for the first time, the Better Jobs Index at the subnational level in Chile, incorporating indicators of employment quantity and quality. Results show strong territorial disparities: although labor force participation and employment rates are high in several regions, job quality -measured by formality and wage sufficiency- is consistently low, particularly in southern regions. The article discusses implications for territorial development and public policy and proposes future research lines that combine objective and subjective measurements to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of employment conditions in Chile.
