This article is the result of a request made by the Basque Parliament and by the Royal Basque Society of Friends of the Country for the Conference “21st century Basque civil law. From the Law of 2015 to its future developments”. Law 5/2015, of 25 June, on Basque civil law contains a first Additional Provision that “creates the Basque Civil Law Commission as an advisory body”. The Paper requested had to deal with “the Aragonese experience” in this regard, and thus, after some considerations on the Spanish rarity of the “permanent” Civil Law Commission, the existence and work of the Aragonese Commissions is narrated, since 1881, taking the current one (of 1996) into special consideration. Some critical opinions, practical reflections and suggestions are formulated.
