Publication Ethics and antiplagiarism

Ethical guidelines

The publication of articles in Filanderas must follow ethical norms and standards that concern all those involved in the publication process (authors, editorial team, reviewers and society). As a journal of the University of Zaragoza, Filanderas is committed to respect its Principles of Research Integrity Statement, assuming its ethical and other responsibilities throughout the editorial process. Furthermore, it recognises as guiding principles those contained in the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (ed. 2023).

For their part, the journal's Management and Editorial Boards are responsible for establishing and maintaining the following standards during the selection and acceptance of submissions, ensuring the ethical, scientific and scholarly integrity of the journal, and that all parties involved accept and respect the following principles.

Author roles and responsabilities

1. The authors undertake to ensure that the articles are original and unpublished, and that they are not in the process of being accepted by other publications.
Plagiarism to any degree will be grounds for automatic rejection for publication. It will be checked through anti-plagiarism tools such as COMPILATIO, Plagium, etc.

2. Articles will have a scholarly structure with clear argumentation, use of verifiable sources, coherence and sources, coherence and appropriate wording.

3. Articles will be developed using a methodology that is specific to the area or discipline to which they are to which they are assigned.

4. Authors will check that they comply with the Ethical Policy described here.

5. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication of the work as well as licensing it under a Creative Commons Attribution Licence CC-BY-NC 4.0. They allow others to share the work with non commercial purposes and an acknowledgement of authorship of the work and initial publication in this journal.

6. The affiliations of each person appearing in the manuscript must be up to date. In the case of co-authorship (i.e. people who participate in the development of the text in a significant way and with the same degree of involvement), surnames will appear in alphabetical order. The source of funding, if any, should be mentioned, as well as, in the acknowledgements section, those persons who, because of their minor contribution, cannot be considered as authors.

7. If a paper contains gender data or statistics, authors are encouraged to include a reflection on these potential differential results in the conclusions.

Editorial Board and reviewers responsabilities

The Editorial Board of Filanderas. Revista Interdisciplinar de Estudios Feministas subjects the articles received for the ‘Estudios’ and 'Ensayos' section to a blind peer review and firmly guarantees their anonymity. This assessment is carried out by professionals in the discipline to which the text belongs, whose judgement is not influenced by subjective factors or factors that are not strictly intellectual or academic.

The reviewer, bearing in mind the characteristics of the journal, must give his/her opinion on the following questions:

- Fit with the journal's profile and integration of a feminist perspective.
- Originality and relevance of the approach.
- Accuracy of the conceptual and methodological frameworks.
- Appropriateness to current scientific trends in the field of knowledge.
- Accuracy and clarity of the presentation.
- Academic structure and internal coherence (hypothesis, argumentation, conclusions).
- Relevant and up-to-date bibliography in the field of knowledge.

These opinions must be impersonally motivated so that they can be transmitted, even if not literally, to the author by the Editorial Committee, particularly in the case of a rejection or a request for modification of the text submitted to the journal. In the latter case, it would be appreciated if the aspects to be developed or corrected, and the reasons for doing so, were specified as clearly as possible.

Anti-plagiarism policy

Plagiarism will be detected using the tools approved by the University of Zaragoza and any plagiarized submissions will be automatically rejected. In the event that plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal will make the necessary corrections. To ensure integrity, readers, reviewers, and the Editorial Team are encouraged to report any suspicion of it via the journal's website.

Additionally, self-plagiarism is not permissible and will result in the exclusion of the manuscript from publication. Authors are expected to inform the Editorial Team if their work is based on previous work and highlight any relevant considerations.

For research involving humans or animals, prior ethical supervision by the relevant committee is necessary. The research should also adhere to international ethical and legal standards. Data confidentiality should be maintained to respect participants' privacy.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle of making research freely available, which encourages greater global knowledge sharing. Articles and other works will be published under an international CC BY NC 4.0 Licence.
