Resumen

La biografía histórica, como recurso metodológico e historiográfico, ha sido desestimada y recuperada en multitud de ocasiones. No obstante, su combinación con el microanálisis y la microhistoria la convierten actualmente en un instrumento válido para la investigación. En Argentina, la historiografía reciente la ha empleado tanto directamente como a manera de complemento de otras formas de aproximarse al pasado. Esto ha ocurrido en particular con la compleja transición experimentada en el sur del continente americano entre los siglos XVIII y XIX.

Abstract

The historical biography, as a methodological and historiographic resource, has been dismissed and recovered in many occasions. Nevertheless, its combination with the perspectives of micro-history and microanalysis makes of it a topical and valid instrument for research. In Argentina, recent historiography has used it both directly and as a complement to other modes of approaching to the past. This has happened in particular with the analysis of the complex transition experienced by the southern American continent during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
