El oficio del historiador en tiempos de Internet / The Craft of the Historian in the Age of Internet

Resumen

En este artículo analizamos los recursos digitales, y su correcta evaluación, que pueden encontrar en la red los investigadores de la Historia contemporánea. A través de ejemplos italianos y españoles, este análisis gira en torno a tres aspectos: 1) las etapas iniciales que marcaron las relaciones entre el historiador y la informática; 2) el posterior encuentro entre el historiador y la red, lo que ha traído significativos cambios en el mismo oficio de historiador; y 3) los rasgos de las fuentes digitales y de sus estrategias de conservación.

Abstract

In this article we shall examine the digital resources that are available online to researchers in contemporary history, along with their appropriate evaluation. Using Italian and Spanish examples, this analysis revolves around three aspects: 1) the early stages that marked the relationship enjoyed by the historian with information technology; 2) the recent encounter between the historian and the Web, which has brought about remarkable changes in the very nature of the historian’s work; and 3) the features of digital sources, plus their conservation strategies.
