Abstract

The urban population's growth in Spain has been very strong during the last decades. Inside him, the increase registered by the great cities is more outstanding. Basically around most of the "provincial" capitals urban areas have been configured. Their dynamism is very quick in the recent years. In such a way that they concentrate on them the whole residing in population's high proportions the respective administrative demarcations. This constitutes an authentic process of demographic polarization. Their repercussions also affect to the economic and functional aspects in Spain. All that supposes an enormous challenge for the territorial organization. It is a strong accumulation of some areas in clearing it contrasts to other wide spaces that are empty.
