Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of transnationalisation of the labour market in the tourism industry through the links between the industry and international migration. Given the irnportance of globalisation tendencies and the way that these mediate the impact of tourism on particular regions of Europe, we focus on the international labour migration into Europe paying particular attention to their changing character during the post-Fordist era of the last two decades. Secondly, it will point out the tourism as a major source of jobs for immigrants with the importance of the informal labour market (black economy). Finally, the third part examines the impact of international return migration on the development of tourism in the home countries of the migrants. In this case, the information base is imperfect and the stress is on case-studies.
