Abstract

There is currently a specific academic field dedicated to the study of literary utopias and utopian thinking. In this work I shall reconstruct the process through which studies on literary utopias have been professionalized. By reconstructing the main lines in the last 150 years of studies on this topic, I intend to examine a long process whereby a multitude of researchers from various disciplines, including sociology, history, literary criticism, philosophy and psychology, among others, have studied different angles of utopian literature.
