The Anxiety of Being Postcolonial: Ideology and the Contemporary Postcolonial Novel

Este artículo se centra en la noción de "ansiedad" como aspecto significativo de la literatura poscolonial contemporánea. En los últimos años, la autoría poscolonial se ha convertido en un ámbito mucho más controvertido, ya que los escritores se sitúan a sí mismos de formas que no reflejan necesariamente perspectivas mayoritarias. Los antiguos binarios que caracterizaban los estudios poscoloniales no siempre son aplicables en el contexto actual. La marginalidad de los autores se ve agravada por las cambiantes situaciones culturales y políticas de naciones que se están configurando de nuevas maneras. La ambivalencia resultante ha dado lugar a un nuevo subgénero de la escritura poscolonial: la literatura de la ansiedad. Michael Ondaatje, Romesh Gunesekera y J.M. Coetzee son algunos de los principales autores cuya obra reciente demuestra las preocupaciones y estrategias formales de este cuerpo de escritura.
