La mente como cuerpo como metáfora conceptual interlingüística

La metáfora conceptual MENTE COMO CUERPO (Sweetser 1990) está motivada por las correspondencias entre nuestra experiencia externa (es decir, el cuerpo) y nuestros estados emocionales y cognitivos internos (es decir, la mente). Tomando como punto de partida el trabajo de Sweetser sobre los verbos de percepción en inglés, analizaré en este artículo las distintas extensiones semánticas que tienen lugar en este campo semántico. Me centraré en dos puntos principales: en primer lugar, mostraré cómo el alcance metafórico de estos verbos es incluso mayor que el propuesto por Sweetser y, en segundo lugar, proporcionaré más apoyo a su afirmación de que estos mapeos son interlingüísticos. Las lenguas investigadas son dos indoeuropeas, el inglés (germánico) y el español (románico), y una no indoeuropea, el euskera.
