El tratamiento de los verbos de manera de movimiento y de los caminos en la traducción inglés-español de textos narrativos

Se cree que las diferencias en los patrones de lexicalización de los acontecimientos de movimiento (Talmy 1985, 1991, 2000) en inglés y español dan lugar a dos estilos narrativos distintos (Slobin 1991, 1996, 2004). Por un lado, las narraciones en inglés proporcionan descripciones dinámicas cargadas de detalles sobre la manera de moverse y ricas trayectorias; por otro lado, en las novelas en español encontramos descripciones menos dinámicas que se centran principalmente en el punto final de la trayectoria y que contienen menos información sobre la manera de moverse. Mediante el uso de un corpus paralelo inglés-español, en este estudio exploramos (a) los problemas de traducción en un texto narrativo causados por los diferentes patrones de lexicalización de los eventos de movimiento, (b) las estrategias que utiliza el traductor para superar esos problemas a la vez que intenta ser fiel al estilo narrativo de la lengua meta, y (c) las diferencias entre el texto fuente inglés y el texto meta español en términos de dinamicidad. Además de corroborar los hallazgos previos de la bibliografía existente, esta investigación demuestra que en español la codificación de la información de modo más allá de la frase verbal cumple una función compensatoria, y algunos tipos de trayectos son candidatos propensos a perderse en la traducción.
