Abstract

In the thirty six years elapsed from the publication of José María Castellet’s anthology, Nueve Novísimos poetas españoles, we have attended to an intense critical discussion which has involved not only most of the poets included in that anthology, but also several critics and not anthologized poets which did not want to be excluded from a historiographic and aesthetic controversy. In this paper we’ll intend to show how some notions such as “tradition” and “tradition intertextual dialogue” become more productive than the concept of “generation”, because, in fact, each literary generation reads the tradition in its own way, redeeming and condemning names according to its arbitrary or conditioned taste, they build a new aesthetic canon.
