Abstract

Cosmópolis (1919-1922) has often been considered by critics as a modernist magazine. Of course, the literary and cultural temperature of the publication obeys in part to the fin-de-siècle sensibility. However, the interest and curiosity that from the beginning showed towards the incipient avant-garde in Spanish language has seldom been emphasized. It was not less the coexistence with publications markedly avant-garde as Cervantes (1916-1920) and Grecia (1918-1920), who shared with Cosmópolis collaborators and writers. This text aims to demonstrate the close links of this magazine with the avant-garde until it becomes a decisive platform for its dissemination.
