Abstract

The aim of the first part of this essay is to reflect on the state and the peculiarities of myth in the globalized and multicultural society of the present era. Moreover, it proposes a theoretical glimpse on the links that relate myth to other investigative and explicative discourses on human reality, such as scientific, poetic/symbolic and ritual languages.

In the second part of the essay, and in the light of the preceding reflections, the processes of remythologization and creation of new myths related to the human identity are analyzed in a story and two advertisements.
