Abstract

It proposes to explain the crisis of sovereignty that affects both the nation-states and the tradition of university autonomy that arises with Modernity, through the process of technological globalization. Certain virtualization of the social condition projects it beyond the institutional closure. In this perspective of a «cyberdemocracy» that transcends all sovereign indivisibility, the university tradition provides a significant antecedent of secularization, since from the medieval beginnings itself (like collegium studiorum) it subtracts from a supervisory power, while it is linked to a Community diversity. The process of university democratization finds in the Renaissance Humanities a critical key that the project proposes to take up, in the face of globalization, as «New Humanities».
