Abstract

The social, political, and economic changes associated with neoliberalism had a significant impact on the modes of production, circulation, and cultural consumption. Despite the importance of this transformation, literary studies are not paying enough attention to reveal all the keys of these dynamics, which are characterized by their heterogeneity, ambivalence and mutability. With the purpose of contributing to fill this gap, this article offers some reflections on the new tendencies of the literary field taking into account the following variables: the effects of the expansion of the digital dimension; the new roles of the literary agency as figures with greater public presence; the reconfiguration of the authorities; or the emergence of institutions, mechanisms and figures that mediate between the literary text and its readers.
