Abstract

Recently, we are witnessing a resignification of key events in contemporary Spanish history. Along with the Civil War, this process also affects the Transition period. Based on an analysis of Spanish novels published between 1995 and 2020, this study shows how current literature helps the process of resignification of the discourse on Transition. This singular historical phenomenon has begun to be seen as an origin of the deficit present of the Spanish present day, which contrasts with the "official" version that presents the Transition as a model epoch. Considering the importance of the Transition in the construction of the identity of today´´ s Spain, the process of it resignification calls into question the coexistence of the Spanish.
