Abstract

Reading over the argument: the aspectual character of time in modern novel
I propose in this paper to revise the aspectual character of time in a literary text. I consider
the void produced in a novel when the novelistic action progresses without regard to facts, and
memory or remembrance takes over, when they become the dynamic forces that project the story
forward. The aspectual character of time is one of the principal traits of the modern narrative,
without a precise understanding of the way it works you cannot interpret it correctly.
