Abstract

In relation to the canon, the current article aims at offering a state of the matter of the present polemics about the literary canon, taking as references the positions of Harold Bloom, upholder of the traditional canon, in contrast to Edward Said, a representative forerunner of the opening tendencies. The point is to arrange the different trends which can be included in the postmodern criticism (postcolonialism, Cultural Poetics, polysystems, etc.) and to look for their common points. Following, I revise Bloon''s reaction trying to find the possible weak points of booth critical conceptions.
