Abstract

There is still a widely held belief that one of the principal evils plaguing the construction sector is its low level of industrialisation. The general consensus is that compared with other productive sectors, the construction of buildings lacks the productivity associated with the industrial model and is still overly dependent on labour and on building processes and materials that have low added value and are technologically backward.

Author Biography

Albert Cuchí, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

Albert Cuchí arquitecto (ETSAB, 1983) y profesor titular de universidad del Departamento de Construcciones Arquitectónicas I en la Escuela de Arquitectura del Vallès de la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña UPC, se dirige a la investigación en las relaciones entre la arquitectura y la exigencia de sostenibilidad, tanto en la generación de esta nueva visión sobre el campo de trabajo del arquitecto como en la generación de instrumentos que permitan aplicarla. Es coordinador del Máster Universitario de Intervención Sostenible en el Medio Construido de la UPC, y es profesor en el Máster Universitario Arquitectura, Energía y Medio Ambiente, así como en el Máster Universitario en Ciencias y Tecnología de la Sostenibilidad, ambos de la UPC. Es miembro de la agrupación ‘Arquitectura i Sostenibilitat’ del Colegio de Arquitectos de Cataluña, y miembro fundador de GBC España (Capítulol español del World Green Building Council), y también del Grupo de Trabajo para la Rehabilitación GTR.
