La paradoja económica de los activos de propiedad común

Tradicionalmente, la literatura económica ha abordado el tema de los activos naturales de propiedad común como una situación donde el libre acceso a dichos recursos conducía inevitablemente a su sobreexplotación y, consecuentemente, a su degradación. En este artículo nuestro objetivo es poner de manifiesto no solo el error de concepto en el que la economía ha incurrido al identificar la propiedad común con la libre disposición del recurso derivada de una ausencia de propiedad, sino también reivindicar el papel que, paradójicamente, la propiedad común puede y debe jugar a la hora de resolver los problemas derivados de la gestión de los recursos naturales, y que hasta ahora se consideraban causados por dicho esquema de propiedad.
