• In this article we analyse the legal framework for active tourism and sports activities in the natural environment in Spain through a comparative study of the regulations in place in this respect in all the country’s autonomous regions. The paper aims to help the reader recognise the main factors that determine and justify the legal development of active tourism and analyse the legal system of all the regional governments in order to identify the aspects they have in common. The main conclusion of this study is the diversity and heterogeneity of the regulations governing active tourism and sports activities in a natural environment, which make it very difficult to draw a line of convergence in the regulation of the field across the different regions.
In addition, the appendix contains all the information (in tabular form) concerning the analysis of the regulations in force throughout the autonomous regions, with references to enable the reader to locate such information in specific articles
