Barb(otum?): una ciudad romana en el somontano pirenaico

La ciudad de Barbotum, mencionada en el texto epigráfico CIL, II, 5841 se ha venido situando tradicionalmente bajo la actual Barbastro, Huesca. Sin embargo, a la luz de las últimas investigaciones sobre el urbanismo en el Somontano oscense y, sobre todo, partiendo de los importantes restos epigráficos y arqueológicos del Monte Cillas (Coscojuela de Fantova, Huesca), se propone la ubicación de dicho núcleo precisamente en este yacimiento. Se va completando de este modo el panorama urbano de una zona insuficientemente conocida y se aportan nuevas líneas de investigación para estudiar la vertiente meridional de los Pirineos.
