La irrupción, durante el siglo XVI hispano, de la literatura mística franciscana resulta significativa para verificar el uso, a menudo in partem, que los devotos místicos adoptaban sobre la herencia grecolatina, con el propósito de obviar el paganismo grecolatino y corroborar la fe cristiana que, de manera relajadamente ortodoxa, profesaban.
