Abstract

Ante oculos ponere was in the Ancient Rethoric the main recommendation in the theory of description. The later Literary Theory took on this rhetorical precept without arguments. The advice of the Rhetorics was Platonic but the Modernity choosed the Aristotelic way -the accurate observation of the reality and the vividness in its expression- locating in the description problems of the Rhetoric, not of the verbal fiction nature.
